THE ART OF IKEBANA
Ikebana, also known as kado or “the way of flowers,” is one of Japan’s three classical arts of refinement.
Enjoy a special Ikebana exhibition as well as hands-on workshop on the art of Japanese Flower Arranging at the Cherie Flores Garden Pavilion in Hermann Park’s Centennial Garden.

Stop by the Cherie Flores Garden Pavilion on Saturday, September 12 between 10:00 AM - 5:30 PM to view the Ikebana Exhibition! This exhibit is free and open to all Japan Festival Houston visitors. It will feature beautiful compositions representing the four schools of ikebana (ikenobo, ichiyo, ohara, and sogetsu) taught at Ikebana International Houston Chapter #12.
Ikebana Workshop (SOLD OUT)
$65/person
Begin your journey into the Japanese art of ikebana with a hands-on workshop.
Create your first arrangement under the guidance of Shaila Shah, a 3rd-degree instructor at the Sogetsu School of Ikebana.
Participants will take home:
A Japanese kenzan (pin frog), 3.5" round.
A durable, attractive plastic suiban (container)
All floral materials
Please bring your own flower clippers.
Preregistration is required, and walk-in spots will not be offered.
The workshop is limited to 20 participants.
Please arrive 10 minutes before the start time.
The workshop will only be held on Saturday, September 12 from 10:00 AM - 11:15 AM.
